Shawn Hiestand, Designer
Fashion designer focused on pattern-driven design, craftsmanship, and expressive form.
I take a functional approach to design, beginning with pattern and construction and expanding into form, movement, and visual impact. I’m drawn to natural fibers, thoughtful drape, and how a garment feels on the body — how it supports the wearer’s presence, comfort, and confidence once worn.
I began sewing and designing at a young age and earned a Bachelor of Science in Textiles, Clothing, and Design from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1999. My background includes custom work for stage productions in Branson, Missouri, a Threads Magazine design contest win in 2002 with feature publication in 2003, and participation in fashion shows across Missouri and the Midwest.
Over the years, my work has spanned custom garment design, jewelry design, sewing for home interiors, and operating an alterations business. I also owned and ran a screen-printing business for 19 years, an experience that strengthened my understanding of production, materials, and long-term craftsmanship.
Today, my focus is on design work that values intention, structure, and individuality over trends.
